An HD pocket camcorder with full 1080p video recording, in-camera editing, a 3 inch touch-screen wide LCD monitor, and remarkably, external stereo microphone/headphone jacks for great audio for about $170. Available in black, chrome and orange. This is the only pocket camcorder I could find in this price band with external jacks. Available in black, red, silver and teal.

Sanyo vpc-cg10
This pocket camcorder is NOT FULL HD video recording and has been replaced with the Sanyo cg20 below, but has the bonus of Face Chaser Technology which can identify up to 12 faces and a 3 inch touchscreen wide lcd monitor. Buy the Sanyo vpc-cg10 in black, pink or red for about $120.

Sanyo cg20 HD Pocket Camcorder
This makes a full 1920 x 1080 video recording, has a 5x optical zoom, takes 10-megapixel photos but has only digital image stabilizer, but comes at a bargain price of just $152. The Sanyo cg20 comes in black and silver.

Sony MHS-CM5V Bloggie
An HD pocket camcorder with full 1920×1080 video recording, a 5x optical zoom and Face Detection for under $150, but supporters of the Sony Brand cried out for more, and they really gave them what they asked for:

Sony Bloggie 8GB Touch
This is what they got, an HD pocket camcorder with Full 1920×1080/30p video recording, 12.8 megapixel stills, a touch-screen interface and Face Detection. Unfortunately, this optical zoom camcorder is only 1x, but the Digital Zoom is 4x. Available in silver or black for about $160 for a 2 hour 8GB model, or about 10 bucks cheaper for the 4GB 1 hour model.

Remember, the prices quoted fluctuate almost daily just like the price of petrol or diesel, so once you have identified the pocket camcorder which best suits your pocket and requirements, don’t delay or the price may go up.
